KAUST x King’s College London – MedTech Innovation Workshop Series 

We are pleased to welcome Professor Prashant Jha, a globally recognized leader in MedTech innovation and entrepreneurship, for an exclusive three-day series of interactive workshops at KAUST. 

About Professor Jha 

Professor Jha is a physician, biomedical engineer, and product designer who has pioneered frugal innovation in healthcare, creating cost-effective technologies that improve lives around the world. He serves as Professor of MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Head of Affordable Medical Technologies at the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering, King’s College London. 

His groundbreaking 5D model—Discover, Define, Design, Develop, Deploy—has shaped the development of medical devices in fetal monitoring, wound care, menopause support, non-pharmaceutical blood pressure control, and remote physiological monitoring. He is also co-founder and editor of BMJ Innovations, the first journal dedicated to affordable medical device development. 

With innovation programs launched in Australia, Finland, India, Japan, and the UK, and a bold mission to impact 10 million lives in 10 years, Professor Jha brings unmatched expertise in bridging academia, healthcare, and industry to deliver scalable, accessible solutions.

1:00– 1:30 p.m.: Going Global in MedTech: Partnerships and Opportunities in King’s College London’s Innovation Ecosystem 

3-Day Workshop (6 hours total): Idea to ImpactTM workshop | Open to KAUST MedTech Researchers

September 17, 18, and 21 
2 hours per day 

3-day workshop: The 6-hour Idea to ImpactTM workshop is designed to help anyone who is innovating in the space of Medical and Healthcare Technologies to understand the journey of the innovators and innovations from the early stage of ideation all the way to product launch creating patient impact. If you are a MedTech innovator who has a desire to work in the domain of MedTech or already have a MedTech Idea, a prototype, or even a technology already in trials, then this workshop can help you plan your journey and create a roadmap to take your MedTech Idea to Impact. 

Designed for KAUST researchers, faculty, staff, technicians, students, and TIE participants, this hands-on series on MedTech innovations will: 

  • Equip you with practical tools and actionable insights in MedTech innovation and entrepreneurship journey 
  • Provide a roadmap for taking your idea to the patients and a thorough understanding of the processes involved 
  • Guide you through case studies, exercises, and targeted discussions to take your ideas to impact. 

Please note: A certificate will be provided to accepted participants, upon completion of the total 6-hour workshop (2 hours each day). Please register early, as space is limited! 

Important: To benefit fully, participants must attend all three days for a total of 6 hours in total
