KAUST Research Geographic Information System (GIS) Rollout

Tuesday, May 23
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ibn Al-Haytham (bldg. 2), Lobby (Seaside) and Room 2290 on Discovery Walk (the Spine)

The Integrated Ocean Processes (IOP) lab hosted by the Red Sea Research Center (RSRC) and Information Technology (IT) are pleased to announce the rollout of the Research Geographic Information System (GIS) Services.

A geographic information system is a platform that discovers patterns and relationships in your spatial data. It helps you to visualize, analyze and share your data. It also helps in better decision making and improved communication and collaboration. These services are envisioned for the KAUST research communities.

Professor Burt Jones will talk about the Geographic Information System experiences of the IOP lab in the RSRC and how information technology is helping them to enhance their GIS potential.

Mohamed H. Abdel-Aal will talk about the Research Geographic Information System services and the availability of the services to other KAUST research communities.

After the rollout announcement, please visit Room 2290 on Discovery Walk (the Spine) until 1:00 p.m. for a showcase of the IOP lab’s GIS capabilities. This showcase exemplifies how you can use GIS in your work. Teams from Information Technology and the Integrated Ocean Processes lab in the Red Sea Research Center will be available for any queries.
