Introduction to Image Segmentation, 3D Reconstruction, and VR Visualization

KAUST Visualization Core Lab presents:
Workshop: Introduction to Image Segmentation, 3D Reconstruction, and VR Visualization

Sunday, March 20, 2022
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
On Zoom

The Kaust Visualization Core Lab (KVL) is hosting a virtual workshop next week that will introduce participants to a complete workflow for segmentation, 3D reconstruction, and visualization (desktop and VR) of image stack data. An expert from the KAUST Visualization Core Lab (KVL) will demonstrate the complete workflow using Avizo – a powerful general-purpose commercial software for scientific data visualization and analysis. The instructor will demonstrate how to easily visualize reconstructed 3D data on a desktop/laptop and in any of the virtual reality facilities offered by KVL. Participants will also learn how to use ilastik – an interactive machine-learning-based segmentation toolkit, for performing more sophisticated segmentation tasks. Finally, participants will be introduced to an alternative approach for visualizing reconstructed 3D data in VR using the Unity game engine.

If your research involves extracting 3D information from microscopy image stacks (e.g., CT, SEM, TEM, or Confocal, etc.), this workshop will help you acquire new insight into your data without the need for programming or machine learning expertise.

This is event is open to all KAUST community and staff.

You can find the workshop webpage here.
For information about additional trainings offered by the KVL please see the lab’s Training PageFor any questions, please contact help@vis.kaust.edu.sa.

This opportunity is brought to you by the KAUST Core Labs and Research Infrastructure.
