Home satellite dishes

Independent installation by residents of satellite receivers, including satellite dishes, cables, aerials and telecommunications equipment, can have a significant and detrimental impact on the views and roof scape of residential buildings. Following regular inspection and monitoring exercises by Housing Services, instances have been identified of residents locating independent satellite dishes on the façades of buildings/units and outside balconies where they are highly visible and prominent, as well as in concealed areas, including behind balconies and rear gardens.

Satellite receivers and their associated equipment are considered unwanted additions to the faces of buildings/units, as they add to clutter and harm to the appearance of the buildings/units, with the potential for cumulative impact that is detrimental to the overall character of our neighborhoods. To support the preservation of the special open and uncluttered character of the neighborhoods and the quality of the TV service provision by KAUST IT, residents are requested to remove any independent installations and refrain from carrying out similar installations in the future.

IT operates the community IPTV system designed to provide commercial TV channels available in the region and video-on-demand content. IT and its service providers select and distribute representative free-to-air channels to all residents at no charge. Premium (pay) TV packages from local distributors may be offered on a subscription basis to residents through the service provider. Please refer to the IT Networks and Communications Policy here for further information on KAUST-supported TV Services. We thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Housing Services
