Great initiative!
How long is the waiting period between two donations?
Thank you!

As per Patient Relations in KAUST Health, if a donor spent 6 months or more in UK from 1980-1996, he or she will not be eligible for blood donation.

The reason is basically that you may be carried vJCD, aka Human form of Mad Cow’s disease.

Hello Dawn,

You must wait at least eight weeks (56 days) between donations of whole blood.
Thanks,

According to the American Association of Blood Bank and for the safety of patients who will receive the blood, the donor will be not eligible for blood donation if he or she spent 6 months or more in UK from 1980-1996.

I am currently waiting for my Iqama and should expect it sometime next week. Can I still donate in the meantime?

Hello Chirsto,

As per the regulations of Saudi minister of health, to be illegible for donation you must bring a valid Iqama. The good news is that we have a blood donation event on May first. You may send your name to the patient relation team, and they will register you in the next event.
