Hi,

can you please specify the time and venue of classes.

Thank you.

Caron Broadbent October 17, 2019 at 3:14 pm

Dear Othman
Classes traditionally take place twice a week in the mornings. Times range from 10.30 to 12.00, 8.30 to 10.00am and 9.30 to 11.00am for example, depending on the placement level. During the initial week some teachers are able to re-schedule the times if all students are in agreement and the teacher does not have other teaching commitments. The venue is various classrooms in Building 9. I hope that helps!. Caron

Is it possible to have classes at 5pm for spouses who are working?

Reply
Caron Broadbent October 20, 2019 at 8:13 am

Dear Soawarak
Thank you for your email. Currently we do not have the numbers to offer classes after 5pm. However, if enough people (minimum 4) of the same level wished to take classes after five it is something we would consider.
Thanks for contacting us.

Will there be female or male teachers.

Reply
Caron Broadbent October 22, 2019 at 10:28 am

Dear Jimmy,
Thank you for your question.
It depends on the level you are placed at after testing. Currently our lower levels are taught by male teachers and all the other levels are taught by female staff. Conversation classes change teacher every term to expose students to a variety of accents and teaching styles.
Best wishes

Dear Dess,
Thank you for your email. I am afraid that currently we do not work at the weekend. We observe the usual working week from Sunday to Thursday. We have classes most days in the morning when children are at school or in daycare. I hope you may be able to join us at one of those times.
All the best

Dear Ahlam
Thank you for your email. The department is an 8 to 5 department and traditionally serves the language requirements of employees within KAUST and their dependents, within office hours. We offer courses in the morning during school hours so that spouses can attend whilst their children are at school. I hope you will be able to join us at some point. Best wishes, Caron

How can I know my level.? Before course.?

Reply
Caron Broadbent January 5, 2020 at 11:51 am

Dear Hiam
Thank you for contacting us. We test students and place them at the level indicated via the placement test. The student is then offered a class at that level. Once the student attends the course they may ask their teacher to supply a breakdown of the placement test components which are currently Use of English, Listening and Speaking.
Best wishes
