The KAUST Imaging & Characterization Core Lab presents:
Bioimage Data Analysis Dealing with Tabular Data
Sunday, August 27 & Monday, August 28, 2023
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (both days)
Building 3, Level 5, R 5220
The Imaging and Characterization Core Lab (IAC), Optical Microscopy (OM) Unit, invites you to ‘Dealing with Tabular Data’, the fifth lecture of its Bioimage Data Analysis Series. The two-day workshop will explain how to determine the cell-cycle stage of all individual cells in a population by measuring DNA content using fluorescence microscopy. On the first day, participants will develop an analysis pipeline using CellProfiler, an open-source tool to generate tabular data from images derived from populations exposed to different drug treatments. The pipeline will group images into the different treatment cohorts, apply illumination correction, segment and measure all nuclei, and classify the cell-cycle phase. On the second day, they will analyze the data using R in a Jupyter notebook, a web-based interactive computing platform. In short, microscopic images will be turned into tabular data that will then be turned back into graphical images for easy interpretation.
All KAUST students and staff with an interest in optical microscopy are welcome to register.
Register here by Thursday, August 24, 2023. A confirmation email will be sent.
This opportunity is brought to you by the KAUST Core Labs.
