Attention: protect yourself from scammers – New updates to the VerifyCaller feature!

Information Security, in collaboration with KAUST Smart, is pleased to announce the latest iteration of the VerifyCaller feature, now equipped with enhanced capabilities to safeguard KAUST Community members and visitors against phone scams while raising awareness about fraudulent activities.

What’s new in VerifyCaller?

Available through the KAUSTCentral application, VerifyCaller now offers:

Reputation checks and reporting

  • You can verify the reputation of incoming phone numbers and report suspected scam calls, helping to build a shared database of known unsafe numbers.
  • Calls from KAUST numbers will display the caller’s name, adding transparency and trust.
  • When reporting a scam call, you can now provide additional details to help Information Security improve its response and database accuracy.

VerifyCaller shield

  • You can proactively protect yourself by using the VerifyCaller Shield, which flags reported scam numbers. Incoming calls from flagged numbers will display a caller ID like “VerifyCaller Unsafe”.
  • You can choose between automatic updates, where the system regularly refreshes your list of scam numbers, or manual updates, allowing you to download and add flagged numbers to your contacts whenever you prefer.
  • With this feature, you’ll always have an up-to-date list of “VerifyCaller Unsafe” numbers saved in your phone’s contacts, enabling you to safely ignore suspicious calls.
