ARTmosphere, in partnership with Averda, is pleased to present an artwork by Saudi graffiti artists, Dhad Family.
Dhad ض is said to be a sound unique to Arabic – otherwise nicknamed the “language of dhad”. By choosing this name, the art collective, consisting of six males, is weaving its Saudi roots into its street art credentials worldwide. Dhad family has presented their graffiti work in the Gulf, Tunisia, Morocco, Malaysia and many countries in Europe including Germany and France. Two of the artists co-own Dhaad Store in Jeddah, a graffiti shop which sells products such as graffiti tools but also collaborates with big brands (like Toyota, Casio, Mercedes, HP….) and companies like ARAMCO, on specific ventures.
For their KAUST project, sponsored by Averda – our in-campus waste management company – Dhad promotes and advances the agenda for sustainability. With its vortex of sea creatures, their artwork is a call to action to save sea life and our majestic marine environment by recycling and working to rid our oceans of plastic debris and litter.
Art takes over KAUST!
