An exciting agreement has been signed to establish a series of protected wildlife areas within the golf course with the aim of promoting biodiversity at KAUST. The initiative is a collaboration between Community Life, Facilities & Management, Health, Safety & Environment and MGS who manage the golf facility for our community to enjoy. The project comes on the heels of the establishment of the Nature Conservation Area which protects much of the mangrove habit at KAUST
The biodiversity spots will include the development of a series of wildlife corridors where continuous lines of trees and/or bushes will be established. The chosen protected areas are located in remote spots that rarely experience activity from golfers. In addition, local species of plants will re-wild the land between the practice area and stadium.

This is great news for our wildlife. I took part in the bird walks organized by Brian James and I recommend them highly for anyone that wants to learn more and see the species that nest or pass by KAUST on their migration route.
