Facilities & Community Fire and Housing Departments would like to remind all residents that the use of aluminum foil to line stove top drip trays is highly unadvisable. Over the last 18 months emergency services have noticed a dramatic increase in the number and extent of kitchen fires caused, and spread by the use of aluminum foil in this way.
In order to keep you and your family safe, we request that this practice be stopped forthwith.

I have couple o comments here:
1. The house keepers use the aluminum foil to line stove
2. No replacements of the burned trays available in the market. I had to buy replacement from USA.

Very good advice for prevention of kitchen fires.
The stove top drip trays become rusty with age is it possible for residents to purchase some replacements?
I agree with Ashraf’s comments – no matter how many times i remove the foil liners the cleaners replace them. Perhaps you can work with Housekeeping to advise the cleaners that this is not a good practice.
I had no idea that this was dangerous! Thanks so much for the information – we will stop doing this in our kitchen.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to this very important post. Rest assured we are actively working with our Housekeeping Service Provider to ensure that this practice is stopped but I would also ask all householders to ensure they, their house maids and housekeeping alike remove the foil from the stove tops.
Regarding replacement drip trays – we will work with our suppliers to find replacement drip trays for you.

Electric coil cooktops: Do not use aluminum foil to line drip pans. Foil can trap heat or melt, resulting in damage to the product and a shock or fire hazard.
