Auditorium between Buildings 4 & 5

This SAFECONOMY Workshop provides capacity-building training for early career researchers interested in contributing to a NetZero carbon future.

SAFECONOMY, with funding from the British Council, is a unique consortium between entities in the UK and Saudi Arabia, aimed at developing low-cost, efficient and zero-carbon energy systems, and with the specific goals of sharing research experiences and providing capacity-building training for early career researchers. This event within the SAFECONOMY framework is being organized by KAUST Solar Center and is open to KAUST students, researchers and staff.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, pledges to double its efforts to lower its carbon emissions from a reduction of 130 million tons to 278 million by 2030. The UK is the first major economy to pass the net-zero emissions law under which the country is required to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to Net Zero by 2050. Therefore, the SAFECONOMY project is well aligned with the ambitious goals set out by both countries.
