On Wednesday, February 15, the Facilities Management Open Day showcased all the FM services to more than 300 attendees from the KAUST community. The event started at 4:00 PM, where attendees received an FM Open Day passport and initiated their tour through all the booths.

At the Community Maintenance booth, families painted on the wall and watched how the KAUST community is maintained. The Operations & Building Management Services booth demonstrated how the IKAS control room monitors the campus, including the ability to switch off lights anywhere, monitor fire alarms, and other systems.

The Business Operation booth brought the call center and 959 FM App, Chatbot, and Website to engage with the community. The Academic Maintenance Services displayed equipment used for maintaining the University Campus, laboratories, and other places of KAUST.

The Planning, Design, Engineer & Construction (PDE&C) booth showcased all the projects and constructions that have been done at KAUST, including a mini excavator and Lego blocks for children to enjoy. The Utilities Services booths explained how the wastewater treatment plant, chilled water plant, seawater reverse osmosis, and electrical power distribution systems work and their capacities.

The Janitorial booth displayed all the equipment used to keep KAUST clean, while the Office Services Booth explained how visitors can acquire office supplies and the quality of office equipment. The Events team booth showcased how every event happens at KAUST, including the last Commencement 2022 and the logistics and preparation for every event.

The Horticulture & Pest Control Services booth displayed various plants found at KAUST, a mini tractor, and a microscope for children to see what pests are controlled on campus. The City Cleaning and Waste Manage booth exhibited the different types of recycled material that can be reused from every house at KAUST.

The Health, Safety and Environment Department was a special guest and brought the Fire Department with its fire truck and firefighters to explain how they care about KAUST’s safety environment and how to act in a fire situation.

The event also had a DJ, photo booth, and face painting for entertainment. Attendees who completed the FM Open Day event passport by visiting more than 7 booths had a chance to receive an hour of complimentary nanny, housekeeping, or gardening services, and by visiting more than 10 booths, they could enter a drawing to win a home air purifier.
