A HUGE thank you to the KAUST community for your contributions to the Thuwal and Qadimah School Kit Fundraiser so far.
To allow us to give school supplies to as many children as possible, the fundraiser has been extended until tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12.
Here are a few updates on the fundraiser so far:
- Last week volunteers gathered on Tuesday evening to assemble the school kits. Each bag included a lunch box and pen set, two 60- and one 80-page sheet book, 3 pencils, sharpener, eraser, color pencils, drawing book and KAUST T-shirt. It was a great success, thanks to our team of enthusiastic volunteers.
- On Wednesday, KAUST representatives visited the first graders at three female schools and three male schools in Thuwal and Qadimah to deliver the bags. They were heartily welcomed with huge smiles, singing, and in one case a giant smurf! The principals, teachers and children were very happy to mark the beginning of a partnership between KAUST and their schools and look forward to more interactions in the future.
- KAUST matched your first round of donations by 100%, donating all of the bags, while your donations went to purchase the supplies that went in the bags.
- We are now planning the second volunteer evening and the second round of school visits. Keep watching The Lens for updates on how to get involved.
