As Commencement partner, the Office of the Arts brings to the KAUST graduates, their families, our faculties and the entire community, the customary end of year Pop-Up Art Gallery and Boutique on the Spine.

Gifts, camel saddles, bohemian treasures, jewellery, shemagh with a twist, artworks and more. Exquisite items showcasing select local and regional designers and homegrown talents are available at this temporary, curated and multidisciplinary pop-up. Treat yourself or bring perfect, compact, memories of Saudi Arabia with you on your winter gift-giving holidays.

The Art Gallery presents for the first time, a photography exhibition, showcasing the work of Saudi photojournalist Iman Al-Dabbagh, whose clients’ list include leading international press such as the New York Times, Der Spiegel, Corriere Della Sera, El Pais, The Guardian, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Die Zeit, Arab News, Bloomberg, The Sunday Times, Financial Times, GEO, Vice, Refinery and more.

For a decade now, Al-Dabbagh has been addressing the continuous evolution of the Saudi society, exploring the influences of globalization and documenting nostalgic images alike. Her work revels in candid shots, gaining access to private places and unguarded moments, capturing ordinary life, from social norms to identity and love.

The Office of the Arts is committed to promoting Saudi talents, shaping strategies to reflect external opportunities and supporting the local economy. The totality of the pop-up’s proceeds goes directly to our creatives and vendors.

Pardon our quirks!

As a philanthropic endeavour, the Pop-Up Art Gallery and Boutique on the Spine is cash-only and does not operate a credit card terminal.

As they are select artisans’ creations, traditional handmade pieces, which are not mass-produced, quantities for most items are low. Many are, at least partially, handcrafted, therefore slight irregularities are a feature.

We trust that you value craftsmanship (and its singularities) as much as we do!
