Alumni Affairs recently hosted its annual Spring Graduation Recognition Lunch. This informal even celebrated the graduation of 105 students, increasing the size of the global alumni community to 2,534.
Graduating students, faculty, KAUST staff and alumni who attended the lunch had the chance to connect with one another, and hear from presenters including Professor Larry Carin, Provost, and Professor Brian Moran, Dean of Graduate Affairs.
In her congratulatory remarks, Manager of Alumni Affairs, Lea Sublett, highlighted the ways alumni can remain in touch with KAUST and each other in Saudi Arabia and internationally. “We acknowledge your success, hard work and passion, and remind you that no matter where you go, or what you do, KAUST will always be a part of who you are, and who you’ve become,” she said.
Alumni speaker Dr Ameerah Bokhari, PhD ’18, MS ’11, a Scientist with Saudi Aramco, congratulated the Spring Graduates on behalf of the alumni community and gave some inspirational advice. “I was in your place about four years ago—filled with joy and pride of such a significant milestone. Even though I was a bit worried about my future career, and the next chapter after graduation, I was optimistic that I’d find a great opportunity because I’m a KAUSTian! And if there is one quality in KAUST graduates, it is their ability to succeed,” said Bokhari.
