If you are sick, stay at home

COVID-19 cases have increased in the Kingdom and KAUST, and almost all positive cases we are seeing in KAUST come from those with mild symptoms. Many signs and symptoms of COVID-19 share those of other illnesses like seasonal flu. The key to minimizing the spread is to isolate yourself at home while sick.

The symptom guide for COVID-19 is available on the Keeping KAUST Safe website, and please follow these two important points:

  • There is no need for those with mild cases to contact KAUST Health for testing. Assume you are sick and stay at home. Coming to KAUST Health only increases the chances you will spread COVID-19 to someone else seeking medical care.
  • Only go to KAUST Health Emergency Room for severe or acute symptoms of emergency nature or call 911 (012 808 0911 from mobile) if assistance is required. Wear your mask inside the Emergency Room and distance from others wherever possible.

If you are inclined to test, use a home testing kit that was provided to you or plan ahead and purchase kits from your local pharmacy. These are the same testing kits used by KAUST Health.
