KAUST Research and Technology Park (KRTP) is celebrating Earth Day in collaboration with tenant startup companies Natufia, Edama, and Red Sea Farms.
A campaign called ‘Adopt-a-Plant’ will be launched Wednesday, April 20, 2022 to encourage the KAUST community to adopt more plants into their lives.
The campaign includes:
- Free gifts of small plants distributed around six locations at KAUST (find the list of locations below).
- A raffle to encourage people to show off the new home of their adopted plants.
- Five raffle winners will win products from KRTP tenant companies Natufia, Edama and Red Sea Farms.
- First place winners: Natufia One (indoor gardening unit), Edama’s compost products, and a 3kg box of mixed veggies from Red Sea Farms.
- Second to fifth place winners each: Edama’s compost products, and a 3kg box of mixed veggies from Red Sea Farms.
* Natufia expects units to be delivered at the end of Summer. Therefore, the first winner will get a voucher from Natufia to receive the unit once delivered.
Where to get your Plant?
On the morning of Wednesday April 20, the gifts of small plants will be distributed at the following locations around KAUST:
- Lobby of KRTP HQ (Building 34)
- Lobby of Innovation Cluster 3 (Building 24)
- Lobby of Administration Building (Building 16)
- Lobby of the Student Center (Building 18)
- Entrance of Main Tamimi Market
- Entrance of Tamimi Express at Discovery Square
You are encouraged to adopt one or two plants and give them a new home at your house or office.
How to enter the raffle?
Share a photo of your plants new home to enter the raffle sponsored by Natufia, Edama, and Red Sea Farms. Enter before Sunday, April 24, 2022
To enter: Email the photo to us at krtp@kaust.edu.sa. You will get an auto reply confirming the recipient of your email.
Before sending the photo, please note:
- The raffle entry will close at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022
- Only clear photos of the plants will enter the raffle
- We plan on publishing a collage of all photos, so keep that in mind.
- Submitting a photo is an indication that you accept including your photo in the collage.
- Raffle selection will be random using randompicker.com
- Raffle winners will be announced by email on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
- Winners can collect their prizes from KRTP-HQ between Sunday, May 15, 2022 and Thursday May 19, 2022.

- Wednesday, April 20, 2022: Raffle entry opens and closes.

Edama Organic Solutions is a KAUST spin-out company focusing on developing a composting methodology optimized to desert conditions by converting organic feedstock into compost that improves soil nutrients and water holding capacity.
Red Sea Farms is a KAUST spin-out company that designs, develops, and delivers scalable and sustainable systems for desert agriculture powered by saltwater and sunlight.
