KAUST Security wins “In-House Security Team of the Year”

The KAUST Government Affairs (GA) department has been recognized once more by another international body, this time for its security team’s excellence. 

The Security and Fire Excellence Awards is an annual global recognition event held in London to celebrate the best teams and projects in the security and fire industries at an international level.

The awards are supported by IFSEC International and FIREX International, which represent the most prominent global events in the Security and Fire industry, in addition to ASIS International, the largest membership organization in the security field.

Many international companies and universities compete for this Award, such as British Security Industry Association, Saudi Aramco Industrial Security, UK Security Institute, Heriot-Watt University and G4S Professional Security UK.

After intense competition, KAUST Security was selected as a winner in one category, and a finalist in two other award categories: 

  1. The In-House Security Team of The Year (Winner)
  2. Customer Care Initiative of The Year (Finalist)
  3. Security Training Initiative of The Year (Finalist)

The judging panel selected the KAUST Security team as In-House Security Team of the Year based on a rigorous review and tough criteria measuring the team’s excellence in encountering risks through effective security strategy.

“Given the large number of competitors for this award in the security industry, it was a surprise,” said Sulaiman Al-Thunayan, Vice President of Government Affairs and Security at KAUST. “We felt so proud to be recognized with such a prestigious award —proving our KAUST Government Affairs and Security department’s superiority and excellence in the security arena.”

In pursuit of excellence in innovation and customer service, KAUST Security has been recognized by a number of international bodies for its work over the past year. The Security Team won the 2020 Stevie Middle East and North Africa Silver award for Innovation in in-house publication, and two bronze International Business Awards for Customer Satisfaction and Customer Team of the Year.
