KAUST IT is in the process of bringing you more of Microsoft Office 365 by migrating our existing mail solution to Exchange Online. Exchange Online will bring a whole new suite of productivity applications, to make it easier for you to study, work, and collaborate.

What is Exchange Online?

Exchange Online is a cloud-based service, allowing you to access email, calendar, contacts, and tasks from your desktops and laptop using the Outlook app you currently use, from the web via Office 365, and on your mobile devices through applications.

What NEW features do I get to benefit from?

  • Larger storage for your inbox (100GB)
  • Improved security, malware, and spam protectio
  • Integration with the full Office 365 suite of applications
  • Outlook Calendar Free/Busy compatibility with G-Suite users (used by students, post-docs, and some faculty
  • New apps now available in the Office 365 suite, for example: To Do and Booking
  • @ Mentions in emails to tag someone directly in an email

When is this taking place?

We have already begun preparing and working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the University. We will begin migrating early December 2021 and continue until mid-March 2022. This will be done in a phased approach, and you will be contacted by KAUST IT prior to the migration of your email mailbox. You can see an approximate timeline* below for your department:
