KAUST is home to a thriving mangrove forest that spans over a million square meters. This distinctive coastal landscape contains a diverse ecosystem and a rich array of life.

Health, Safety, and Environment Department have put together a dedicated mangrove website that documents what we know about our mangroves. The aim is to spark a community-wide conversation about biodiversity in our own backyard. This webpage is a resource for KAUST researchers, community members, educators and beyond. It provides fascinating insight and content, including information about mangrove plant species and their current state, as well as historical and current coverage area.

Additional mangrove resources such as teaching aid materials, books and mangrove news are also available on this website.
