Thank you to everyone who participated in the MoH screening program last week. There were 6,330 PCR tests conducted and only six positive cases have been reported to KAUST Health by individuals. We are waiting for the final confirmation of all positives from the MoH.

Your test was positive? Please inform KAUST Health

If anyone tested positive and has not yet informed KAUST Health, then please do so immediately so contact tracing can be initiated.

This also applies to individuals who took their PCR test between March 7 – 11 outside of KAUST and have not yet submitted the results to KAUST Health. Please inform KAUST Health by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15 by emailing covid19.tp@kaust.edu.sa.

Anyone who failed to attend or submit a test will be contacted by HR or Graduate Affairs as follow up.

Your COVID-19 vaccination

On March 10, KAUST started its COVID-19 vaccination program, and as of March 14 at 8:00 a.m., we have administrated a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to 1,500 individuals, which accounts for approximately 28% of the eligible KAUST resident population.

When adding the percentage of people who have either received one or two doses of the  AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccine in MoH centers around the Kingdom, KAUST is well on the way to achieving herd immunity. But we need more people to sign up to have the vaccination.

In-Kingdom and KAUST vaccination information

  • The Saudi Arabian government are accelerating the vaccination program around the Kingdom and is looking to achieve high numbers of vaccinated population
  • The government of Saudi Arabia will provide those who are vaccinated with a ‘health passport’ which is likely going to be a requirement to enter many countries soon
  • The Tawakalna application is now a mandatory requirement to enter many of the public areas in the Kingdom, and for those vaccinated, it will be updated and show that they are immune
  • If KAUST reaches a high vaccination level, we may be able to further relax any COVID-19 measures (including the potential to open up for personal visitors)
