BioE—Career & Development Workshops Series

The KAUST Chapter for the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) has partnered with the Office of Professional Development and is delighted to invite students in the field of bioscience to attend a series of three career management workshops.

The workshops, focusing on handling a career in bioscience, will be facilitated by Sarah Blackford (Ph.D. Career consultant).

The three workshops can be taken individually and participation to all sessions is not required. Although the workshops are tailored for students in Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering (BESE), students from other divisions are welcome to attend.

The workshops are:

  • Planning and managing your career – February 23, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Writing an effective CV and cover letter – February 24, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Self-presentation and interview technique – March 2, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

A description of the workshops can be found below.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

February 23 – 3:00-5:00 p.m.
With plenty of interactive exercises and discussion to allow you to share your ideas in a confidential learning environment, you will be able to reflect on your career in terms of where you are now and where you want to be in the near and longer term future.

February 24 – 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Using examples, and with the opportunity for feedback and discussion, participants will learn how to express and structure their experiences in a targeted CV, as well as how to introduce themselves in a covering and speculative letter.

March 2 – 3:00-5:00 p.m.
In this session participants will reflect on their own strengths and how to articulate them in person and on-line, especially at interview. With the opportunity for role play in small groups including individual peer feedback the aim of this session is to increase the confidence and ability to present oneself professionally.
