Embarking on our Digital Transformation Journey – TAHAWUL

Dear KAUST community,

In line with the Saudi Vision 2030 to build an education landscape that contributes to the economic growth and social prosperity, one of our key goals at KAUST is to provide best-in-class technology infrastructure to our students and workforce while we thrive with unparalleled education and research in the fields of science and technology.

In our continued focus to be the catalyst for education development in Saudi Arabia and the world, we have adopted multiple initiatives at KAUST to achieve this vision.

Today, we are announcing one of our key initiatives, TAHAWUL – The Digital Transformation Program. ‘TAHAWUL,’ derived from the Arabic lexicon means ‘Transform.’ Transformation is the most constant pursuit of humankind and here at KAUST, this is our guiding philosophy behind every idea, every initiative.

The Logo – The Butterfly signifies the essence of transformation, vibrant positivity that it brings and symbolizes the constant process of evolution.

We’re glad to introduce Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), our key partner on this transformation journey to enable us with consulting, overall transformation management, end-to-end implementation and managed services.

About the program

TAHAWUL is a strategic program to digitally transform our core processes, modernize our systems and empower our workforce and student community with speed, agility and world class user experience.

As part of this digital transformation, we are migrating from existing On-Premise SAP systems to the new generation cloud-based platform of SAP S/4HANA along with new functionalities, SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Ariba.

  • SAP S/4HANA is a future-ready enterprise resource planning (ERP) system on Cloud that will transform our business processes with intelligent automation and simplified data model.
  • SAP SuccessFactors is an evolution from our existing SAP HCM platform (Current HR Portal) to optimize the core HR and payroll systems.
  • SAP Ariba will digitize and simplify our key procurement processes end-to-end with an integrated platform on the cloud.

The Finance, HR, Student Lifecycle Management and IT functions will be collaborating closely as we transform and digitize the core systems to provide you with an enriching experience.
