Enabling CO2 Geological Storage within a Low-Carbon Economy

Ali I. Al-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center (ANPERC) is pleased to announce the 2021 KAUST Virtual Research Conference entitled “Enabling CO2 Geological Storage within a Low-Carbon Economy,” which will take place between February 22-24, 2021, on the beautiful KAUST campus as well as broadcast live via Zoom.

This conference convenes renowned speakers from academia and subject matter experts from the industry to unlock the potential of geological CO2 storage as a key enabler for Circular Carbon Economy. The conference addresses critical challenges related to the feasibility and value of CO2 capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) with emphasis on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

Over the three-day conference, short sessions will set the scene to promote two-way fruitful discussions related to the feasibility of CO2 storage in deep saline aquifers, CO2 mineralization in reactive rocks, CO2 utilization for geothermal energy and enhanced oil/gas recovery, synergy with the blue-hydrogen industry, economic viability, and regulatory frames.

A Student ePoster competition will also be held during the research conference, and the Winners will be announced at the closing session on February 24. Students must submit their ePosters online here.

We look forward to seeing you virtually at the conference!
