Quarantine: stay home, stay safe!

Have you come back to KAUST from international travel? Are you in quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test or after contact tracing?

Whether you have symptoms or not, it is important that you follow quarantine restrictions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

If you, your family, or your housemates are in quarantine, this is for your own safety and the safety of our community.

If you are currently in quarantine, you must:

  • STAY HOME: Anyone in quarantine must stay home and not go out until they have completed the quarantine period (exceptions for emergency medical care and for PCR testing)
  • SELF ISOLATE: Where possible, individuals in quarantine should separate themselves from others in their household
  • NO VISITORS ALLOWED: Refrain from having any non-household members visit during the quarantine period, including housekeeping and maintenance (except for emergencies – in these circumstances please inform service providers that you are in quarantine before they enter the property)
  • REPORT SYMPTOMS: Monitor your own health and if symptoms develop, contact KAUST Health at 808-0940
  • SHOP ONLINE: Use the Tamimi shopping app for grocery deliveries, or arrange for friends to shop and leave items at the entrance to their property
  • STAY SAFE: Follow directions from KAUST Health and government bodies

Read more about quarantine requirements on the HSE Website.

January 31 COVID-19 update

Here is an overview of the positive cases reported to KAUST Health since the last bulletin.

  • Three individuals are from the same family and were direct contacts of a previous case.
  • The other case is an international traveler, who tested positive upon exit from quarantine.

All remain in quarantine and contact tracing has been completed.

The 14-day positivity rate* at KAUST is currently 0.4%.

We’d like to thank all community members for practicing physical distancing, the wearing of face coverings, hand washing and adherence to the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines.

If you have symptoms, please stay home and call KAUST Health at 012 808 0940.

* Positivity rate = % of positive tests returned from the total number of tests taken during a 14-day period. Excludes where the result is still pending or the swab was rejected.
