KAUST cases

We are keeping in touch with all of our active cases and monitoring their progress. We wish each of these community members well.

The do’s and don’ts of face coverings

Face coverings are only effective if worn properly. As KAUST is returning to a “new normal,” face coverings are a critical preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19 in the community and everyone must know how to wear them correctly.

To ensure everyone understands this preventative measure, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) has provided the community with a “Do’s and Don’ts of Face Coverings.”

Additionally, new signage will be going up at Discovery Square to remind you that face coverings are required at all times at this location, except when eating.

It’s important to emphasize that physical distancing (two meters or six feet) remains an essential requirement and that face coverings are NOT a substitute for physical distancing.

We would like to keep KAUST residents informed that Saudia flights are now open for booking on the Saudia website:

Solidarity through volunteering — Donal Petherbridge

Chiefs Donal Petherbridge (left) and John Simpson (right) enjoying the sunset by the Red Sea prior to COVID-19.

This is the fourth in a series of original testimonies from community members who have given their time to volunteer at different levels during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, we feature Donal Petherbridge, Chief of the KAUST Fire Department (KFD). Additionaly, the KFD runs the KAUST Volunteer Fire Department.

They have already been deployed three times during the COVID-19 crisis – assisting at Gate 1, establishing Tamimi’s safety system to ensure re-opening, and delivery of face coverings to the entire community.

Read Donal’s story on The LENS.

Next COVID-19 announcement

“COVID-19 advisory and campus news” announcements will be taking a break during the Eid al-Adha holiday. The next announcement will be on the morning of Sunday, August 9.
