COVID-19 symptoms guide

As the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing—and to reduce the transmission of the virus— Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) provides the community with tools and guidelines to help Keeping KAUST Safe

The most common mild symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Breathing problems
  • Sore throat
  • Dry cough
  • Loss of taste or smell

Severe or acute symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to be woken
  • Bluish lips or face

If you think you might have developed any of these symptoms or are concerned, you should return to or remain in your accommodation and take the following actions:

  • For mild symptoms, contact the KAUST Health call center at 012 808 0940. They will arrange a telephone consultation for you with the KAUST Health physician. If outside clinic hours, call KAUST Health at 012 808 4444.
  • For severe or acute symptoms of an emergency nature as below, call 911 (012 808 0911 from mobile)

Please note that anyone presenting with symptoms will have a medical history taken and may be required to participate in tests to try and establish a diagnosis.

There may also be a requirement to take a COVID-19 nasal or oral swab and a requirement to remain in quarantine for up to 14 days. It is each individuals responsibility to report symptoms and follow appropriate recommendations as required.
