Gradual staff ramp up—Phase 2c

Phase 2c is taking effect from today, Sunday, June 28, 2020.
As we gradually reopen, strict adherence to physical distancing and all Keep KAUST Safe guidelines and all other aspects of the the HR Return to Work plan remain important.

Read more about the return to normal workspace phased approach here.

Please also note the following in relation to Phase 2c:

  1. A small additional % number of employees/contractors will be entering the gates in Phase 2c
  2. All those entering are following additional controls over and above what the KAUST community follows
  3. The access controls will become more rigorous during Phase 2c, including community members testing. More details will be provided early this week.
  4. All line managers are being asked to familiarize themselves with the Phase 2c workplace procedures and to communicate and reinforce these procedures to their respective teams.
  5. Beginning Sunday, July 5, official quarantine procedures will be relaxed for people entering KAUST. Instead of the current 14-day mandatory quarantine requirement for returnees to KAUST, we will replace this with the implementation of “restricted activities” for a period of 14 days after their return. More details will be sent this week before the changes go into effect.

KAUST Health services

On March 22, in response to the COVID-19 situation, KAUST Health moved to essential services only to ensure we could continue to support our community. Having reviewed the current situation and while we look at ways to safely return to normal services, the decision has been made to extend the current service structure throughout July

Where possible, we will look to bring back some services such as orthodontics earlier and will communicate accordingly.  Any pre-scheduled appointments for July will be removed over the coming week.

If anyone has any queries about appointments or future scheduling then please call KAUST Health at 012 808 0940.

Keep KAUST Safe 🙏🏻

We would like to remind the community that it is everyone’s responsibility to Keep KAUST Safe. Please ensure you are familiar with the guidelines. Wearing a face covering any time you are outside your home is the safest approach along with practicing physical distancing (two meters or six feet), covering cough and sneezescleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects, and frequent handwashing.

Additional measures such as restricting the number of different households you interact with will help manage the reopening plan.

Which restaurants and coffee shops are currently open?

Some restaurants and coffee shops are now offering limited indoor seating. Takeaway meals can also be enjoyed in the outdoor seating areas in Discovery Square and Harbor Walk.

Please follow the Keep KAUST Safe guidelines regarding physical distancing. As always, delivery and pick-up options are available, and several of our restaurants are available for ordering on Hungry Campus.

Visit the community services updates page for complete details.

Once again, we’d like to thank you for your cooperation and ongoing adherence to directives. These have been designed to keep you safe and to help manage the crisis.
