KAUST cases

The total number of cases of COVID-19 identified at KAUST remains at 26.

Following yesterday’s announcement, there have been a number of questions about how contact tracing works. As it can go back as far as 28 days, contact tracing can include those who had contact before the positive case was in quarantine. There is no suggestion that recently announced cases have broken quarantine.

Information on how contact tracing works can be found here.

We are keeping in touch with all of our active cases and monitoring their progress. We wish each of these community members well.

Shop responsibly at Tamimi

We would like to remind community members that it is mandatory to wear a face covering at all times when visiting Tamimi stores, while in the queue and while shopping.

Tamimi is currently open from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Here are some best practices to ensure a safe, efficient shopping experience:

  • Only one person per household can go inside
  • Look at the QCam before you head to the store
  • Put on a face covering before joining the queue
  • Sanitize your hands before entering the store
  • No children under 15 are allowed in the store
  • Practice physical distancing – a managed number of people are allowed into the store at the same time. It is your responsibility to practice physical distancing measures inside
  • Plan ahead and make a list – buy groceries and household items for the whole week and buy fresh supplies once in between. Think about the needs of everyone—including pets—to avoid forgetting items and having to return to the store
  • Only handle items you intend to purchase – carefully look before you choose and pick items from the shelves or the counter displays

Solidarity through volunteering—The Maskateers

This is the second in a series of original testimonies from community members who have given their time to volunteer at different levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, we feature “The Maskateers,” a well-known group bringing together community members who produced face coverings to help Keep KAUST safe.

Once again, we’d like to thank you for your cooperation and ongoing adherence to directives. These have been designed to keep you safe and to help manage the crisis.
