KAUST cases

One new case was confirmed over the weekend, bringing the total number of positive cases identified on campus to 26. The case was a contact of an earlier positive case. This case was not in quarantine when there was a contact. This indicates some level of community transmission. Therefore, it is important to follow and adhere to the Keep KAUST Safe guidelines.

In-Kingdom curfew lifted today

KC3 is reviewing the details of the government announcement on the lifting of the curfew and opening of businesses across the Kingdom, effective today. We plan to announce the detail of a revised KAUST reopening plan this coming Wednesday. We ask the community to remain patient and aligned to our current directives until Wednesday, June 24. The revised reopening plan will endeavor to accommodate the relaxation of restrictions in the Kingdom while continuing to protect KAUST.

Indoor and outdoor gatherings

Outdoor gatherings of 5 people have been increased to 10 as of today. It is recommended that the community take a practical approach when following the Keep KAUST Safe guidelines.Below are some considerations when having personal and home gatherings:

  • Understand that a gathering of any size carries a certain level of risk
  • Maximum of 5 people are allowed in gatherings inside homes
  • If you are sick or feeling ill, do not host or attend a gathering
  • We strongly recommend to restrict these gatherings to only one other household
  • Gatherings in outside areas (beaches, discovery square, sporting courts, etc.) are preferred over indoors (homes, recreation clubs, etc.)
  • Limit your time at the gathering/home visit
  • Wash your hands frequently

Please take a moment to read the Phase 2 Operations and Resumption List here.

Physical distancing measures still apply and Keep KAUST Safe guidelines remain in force to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone at KAUST.
