KAUST cases

Two new cases of COVID-19 have been identified at KAUST, bringing the total number of cases of COVID-19 identified at KAUST to 21. The new identified cases were in quarantine, as was their small contact tracing group. All members of both groups remain in quarantine.

All of the previous positive cases have been discharged upon completion of the MOH testing requirements. We are keeping in touch with all of our cases and monitoring their progress. We wish each of these community members well.

Return To Normal Workplace—Phase 2b

300

Phase 2b was announced on June 11 (read the June 11 announcement  introducing Phase 2b) and will take effect from today.

Please note that throughout the lockdown, critical service providers and project/construction workers have been allowed to enter and exit KAUST over the past three months and our strictly controlled health and safety measures for such access has been effective in mitigating any risk arising from such access being permitted. As we gradually reopen, strict adherence to physical distancing procedures and all other aspects of the the HR Return to Work plan, will be particularly important. Read more about the return to normal workspace phased approach here.  We are also taking appropriate measures through our Keep KAUST Safe campaign to mitigate the risk within our workplace and to maintain a safe space. We have put measures in place to ensure physical distancing, as well as the cleanliness of our offices and shared spaces. Please also note the following in relation to Phase 2b:

  1. Only a very small additional % number of employees/contractors will be entering the gates in Phase 2b
  2. All those entering are following additional controls over and above what the KAUST community follows
  3. The access campus controls will become more rigorous during Phase 2b, including the provision of testing at the gates
  4. All line managers are being asked to familiarize themselves with the Phase 2b workplace procedures and to communicate and reinforce these procedures to their respective teams
