KAUST cases

The total number of cases of COVID-19 identified at KAUST remains at 16. All of the positive cases have been discharged upon completion of the MOH testing requirements. The last positive case was 13 days ago.

Swimming permitted at South Beach

Effective Monday, June 1, swimming at South Beach will be allowed. South Beach opening hours are from: 

  • Monday – Thursday: 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday – Saturday:  9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

This schedule is valid until June 21. Please keep in mind that some restrictions apply and that physical distancing measures need to be respected at all times. 

KAUST mosques reopening

In accordance with the latest announcements to the Kingdom regarding the of easing COVID-19 measures including the reopening of mosques, King Abdullah Mosque, Island Mosque and Garden Mosque will be reopened today, Sunday, May 31, 2020 for all prayers

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has set mandatory guidelines for all mosques to abide by during this period.

Car Parade—Thank you

Yesterday’s Car Parade was a huge success! Many community members came out to cheer and wave at the cars, fire trucks, ambulances, service providers vehicles passing by. We would like to thank the organizers from across KAUST, including HSE and Security for ensuring the event was run safely. GBC were filming and photographing the event, stay tuned for the movie to come!

What are the new regulations included in Phase 2 of reopening the campus?

A number of changes took effect on Thursday, May 28, including:

  • Lifting of the curfew
  • Allowing outdoor gatherings of 5 people or less
  • Tamimi resuming normal opening hours (7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. daily)
  • Restarting of some recreation activities
  • The quarantine period will revert to 14 days
