The Second Chance Thrift Shop is run by the community, for the community. Pre-loved or new items can be donated and sold at low cost to those who live and work at KAUST. Profits from the shop will support Social Responsibilities programs in Thuwal and other local causes.
Please bring a reusable shopping bag for all your bargains!
Thrift Shop opening times:
- Saturdays, 2:00-5:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

What can be purchased/donated?
- Quality household items, Small appliances, Kitchenware
- Electronics, Books, Stationery, Decorative items
- Sports equipment, Garden equipment
- DVDs, Games, Toys, Children’s clothes and shoes
- Adult clothes, Accessories, Shoes
How to donate?
- Place items in the bins outside the Thrift Shop, anytime.
- Donate during Thrift Shop opening hours. There is drop off parking (max 10 mins), next to the ramp outside the Thrift Shop. Note – there is a kerb!

Where is the Thrift Shop?
- In the arcades at the west side of the Grand Mosque, on Exploration Avenue, next to the canal (where the Fruit and Veg shop was before it moved.)
- Parking is available on Exploration Avenue or in the Discovery Square parking.
- The nearest bus stop is Discovery Square, by the mosque.
How can you volunteer at the Thrift Shop?
- The shop needs more volunteers for selling, sorting and pricing on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
