He will discuss how the Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group is re-emphasizing how new basic knowledge is critically important to the world, by investing in pioneering bioscience research led by creative individuals and compass-guided centers.

This work is key to maintaining viable innovation ecosystems in the long-term by maintaining the cultural attitudes, research institutions, industrial capabilities, government policies, and capital markets that allow human creativity to flourish and invent.

Professor Skalak is a former vice president for research at the University of Virginia, a council member of the Government-University-Industry-Research Roundtable and a past president of both the American Institute of Medical Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES).

The award ceremony for the Enrichment in the Spring photography competition will follow this keynote at 7:00 p.m.

We’ll see you at the events!
