VLE Turnitin training sessions

Do you teach? Do your students want consistent and better feedback? The VLE team can help.

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) team is now offering two types of Turnitin training for staff and students at KAUST. If you would like to attend any of the workshops then please click on the links at the end of this post and complete the online form. Each training session will be no longer than two hours.

What Turnitin offers:

  • Use electronic submission and get rid of a whole task of administering assignments
  • Automatically check for matching text, indicative of plagiarism
  • Feedback and marking
  • If you want to use pen and paper for giving feedback, then learn how to download assignments so you can print them off
  • Go electronic to make your feedback more consistent and faster for you

Options to do one or a combination of the following:

  • Generic feedback: Create an assessment rubric where you then click on the achievement levels in each of the categories to give feedback and automatically compile a mark
  • Give feedback general to the whole paper (either written or with an audio-recording)
  • Give feedback by annotating the paper: Highlight single words or portions of the script and create specific feedback comments (in the same way that you would annotate a paper when you mark with a pen). Save comments so you can re-use them next year (or for a different assignment, or share with a colleague)

The team are also offering face to face training courses for staff that range from Introductory Turnitin sessions to more in-depth courses on the use of GradeMark for marking online.

This training is open to staff, faculty, and students. Please register through the links provided below.
