This is an initiative led by Campus Support in line with the original architectural design of the University by HOK.
Discovery Walk was designed to evoke the traditional Arabic city where streets and building intertwine. The introduction of urban furniture is a further step in transforming the spine into a lively traditional ‘souq’ – a bustling public thoroughfare that facilitates chance encounters and provides landmarks for informal meetings.
As we move towards the hot summer months the spine will be a cool and shaded outdoor meeting and informal working space enhanced by the addition of comfortable furniture.
More transformation in the spine will take place in the future with an emphasis on creating landmarks and meeting places to create a more social and active space, fostering the sharing of knowledge and processes of research.
Campus Support welcomes feedback from the community on this and other initiatives in order to keep improving the campus.
