Writing Systems and Hangul: Write Your Name in Korean in an Hour – Brown Bag Lecture

Speaker: Prof. Suk Ho Chung, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at KAUST and founding director of the Clean Combustion Research Center.
Korean Hangul is the only writing system in general use today which analyzes features of various phonemes. This lecture introduces the principle and philosophy in inventing the script, based on Yin and Yang and five element theory of old Chinese philosophy. Through this lecture, you will learn how to write your name in Korean in an hour.
A light lunch will be provided.

This portrait exhibition features people from around the world captured during everyday activities, or posed shots, aimed at capturing the individual at their best. This exhibition is based on a collection of portraits submitted by the members of the KAUST Photography SDG and will run from Sunday, March 22 to Saturday, March 28.

Emotion, Music and the Brain: Multimedia Musical Performance

How emotional is our brain? In this special multimedia musical performance, neuroscientist Pierre Magistretti and composer/musician Michael McGinnis will collaborate with KAUST musicians, photographers and community members to explore neuroscience, our emotions and the brain.

Enrichment in the Spring will run from Friday, March 20 to Saturday, March 28 and will feature three days of core events and one week of community events, with the main theme being the human brain and mind.
