TKS Students Travel to Ghana

On February 12, five TKS students and two teachers traveled to Accra, Ghana to participate in the Global Issues Service Summit held at the Lincoln Community School. GISS is where students, teachers and motivational speakers come together to present, discuss and act on global issues.

“Betumi: If not you, then who?” was the theme for 2014.

During the three day conference, our group presented a workshop on the rights of domestic workers, listened to others share their ideas on global issues, and spent a day working on service projects around Accra.

All walked away from the conference feeling inspired and empowered to take action.

“Going to the Global Issues Service Summit has opened my eyes up to the fact that there are many other young people, like myself, who are interested and willing to contribute to a change in this world.”
– Meghan Lees

The GISS conference is a great opportunity to connect with students from International Schools all over Africa, and we are looking forward to 2015 in Mozambique.
