World Water Day is held on March 22 each year to highlight the importance of fresh water and to advocate for sustainable water management. On this day, people all around the world participate in awareness-raising celebrations and events about water conservation and management, and KAUST is no different.

Join the F&C Health, Safety, & Environment Office for a Community Open Day at the
Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant on Saturday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. or
1:30 p.m.

This public event is a great opportunity for the community to see firsthand how KAUST’s high quality drinking water is produced and how its high standard of quality is maintained as well as learn more about water conservation and innovations in water desalination & forward osmosis.

As part of the visit, two presentations will be shared by representatives from the Water Desalination and Reuse Center:

  • “Recent Trends and Innovation in Seawater Desalination” by Dr Shahnawaz Sinha, Center Liaison Officer and Pilot Facilities Manager
  • “Sustainable Water Solutions for Costal Cities: Forward Osmosis (FO)” by Muhannad Abu-Ghdeep, Technical Officer and KAUST graduate

To register, please click here for the Community Open Day. Please note places are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bus transportation (pick up and drop off) will be provided from the main Tamimi supermarket to the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plant. All safety equipment needed for the visit will be provided at the plant.
