If you are traveling over the upcoming winter-break, help keep your home and belongings safe by following a few simple steps given by Facilities & Community:

  • Assign a caretaker by completing the Caretaker Form and emailing it to housing@kaust.edu.sa.
  • Shut off the water valves underneath your kitchen and bathroom sinks as well as the flexible hoses located in the bathrooms to ensure no water leaks from the internal plumbing system.
  • Switch off the water heater inside the panel board to prevent an excessive temperature and pressure build-up in the water heater tank.
  • Leave the A/C on auto and set to a minimal temperature of 23C. This will help avoid condensation and prevent the formation of any mold.
  • Floor drains should be left uncovered in all wet areas: toilets, kitchen, wash room, laundry room, and water heater room (if applicable), this will prevent flooding if there is an occurrence of a water leak inside the unit.
  • All doors and windows should be kept closed to avoid the buildup of any condensation within your unit. If you have a roof access door, ensure that it is locked and secure.
  • Please make necessary arrangements for the upkeep and maintenance of your backyard during your absence (as per clause 14 of the Housing Agreement). Call 959 for maintenance, 808-5480 for Gardening, or send an email to gardening@kaust.edu.sa.

For any inquiries, please contact Housing Department on 808-6555 or via email housing@kaust.edu.sa or Maintenance via the helpdesk at 959.

Remember, protecting your possessions and your rented unit is your responsibility.
