We are excited to welcome families and distinguished guests to share in the celebration of Commencement 2012 on Friday, December 14. On the day of the ceremony, access to the academic campus will be restricted to those who have an invitation and valid KAUST ID or Commencement Guest ID. Additionally, please be aware of the following:
Access to Ceremony Site
- Access to the Ceremony Area will be restricted to those who have an invitation (one invitation per person) and valid KAUST ID or Commencement Guest ID.
- The main entrance to the Ceremony Area will be at the north end of Discovery Walk (spine), near the Student Center (building 18). The entrance on level 0, across from Discovery Square, will be open to allow entry for guests with reduced mobility.
- Only guests with permission for access will be allowed to enter the campus main gate (facing the Administration Building) between 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- There will be limited access to Discovery Walk (spine area) between Al-Jazri (building 4) and Al-Khawarizmi (building 1) during the ceremony. Please see this map for alternate route.
Parking and Shuttle Service
- Parking is available at the North Garage and at Tamimi supermarket. Commencement shuttle buses (restricted to those with an invitation and ID) will transport people from Tamimi to the Student Center from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m.
- A special Commencement shuttle service will be operating between the Visitor Center (Main Gate) and the Student Building (building 18) between 12:00 -7:00 p.m.
- The regular shuttle bus service to the Administration Building (building 16) will be suspended from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- Parking of bicycles or motorcycles is not allowed near the Commencement area and Library.
- Campus Gate #10 can be used by KAUST staff, students, and Commencement visitors to access into the north parking garage.
Operating Hours
- Access into the Administration Building will be restricted from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- Al-Khawarizmi (building 1) will be closed from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- The Campus Diner will be closed from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.
