KAUST Security will conduct a planned security drill at the Security Headquarters (SHQ) and the surrounding area on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG), KAUST Health, the KAUST Fire Department, government security entities, and other internal emergency operations teams will support the exercise.
This is a controlled exercise and not a real emergency.
What to expect during the exercise
Because this is a comprehensive, multi-agency drill, there will be noticeable activity around the SHQ building during these two hours.
You may notice:
- Alarms and sirens: The SHQ building fire alarm may be activated, and you may hear sirens from Security patrols, SANG patrols, and fire trucks.
- Visible smoke: Controlled, non-toxic smoke flares will be used at the drill site to simulate a real scenario.
- Road closures: Temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in place around the SHQ area (see map below).

In case of a real emergency
If a genuine emergency occurs during the drill period, standard response protocols will remain fully active. For any real emergencies, please contact KAUST Emergency Services immediately:
- From a KAUST landline: Call 911
- From a mobile phone: Call 012 808 0911
- Via mobile app: Use the 911 icon in the KAUST Central app
