Registration Open for January Art Club classes

The Art Club offers classes, workshops, and two studios where members can attend workshops and work on their own projects.

Classes take place at the Island Recreation Club, art and ceramic studios.

The following 3rd block of workshops are available starting in January 2026 after the winter break: Arabic calligraphy, ceramics, drawing and watercolor, gouache painting, kids’ art and oil painting.

Sundays: Gouache Painting Workshop | Register here
Learn how to paint with gouache, which is a water-based painting medium similar to painting with oil paint, but a lot less difficult because you don’t have to wait for it to dry.

Mondays: Charcoal and Watercolor Portrait Workshop | Register here
Learn basic drawing techniques using pencil, charcoal, black-line pen, combined with basic watercolor painting.

Tuesdays: Ceramics Workshop | Register here
You will learn to throw pots on a pottery wheel, and how to hand-build pinch pots, coil pots and slab pots, and glazing techniques.

Wednesdays: Arabic Calligraphy Workshop | Register here
You will explore the history, techniques, and various script styles to compose your own calligraphic designs. You will also learn the cultural and aesthetic significance of Arabic calligraphy in all its locations, but especially in Islamic mosques.

Thursdays: Oil Painting Workshop | Register here
Learn classical oil painting techniques from a very experienced art teacher, for beginners, intermediate and advanced painters.

Saturdays: Kids’ Art Workshops | Register here for 9:00 a.m. and here for 10:00 a.m.
These classes are for K1 – G5 kids. There are two workshop times: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
