Behaviour Change Policy Forum 2025

December 4, 2025
Building 19, Mosti Room

Join us for the Behaviour Change Policy Forum 2025, a one-day event bringing together leading experts, policymakers, and practitioners from the UK and Saudi Arabia to explore how behavioural insights can drive effective and sustainable waste management.

Hosted at KAUST, this forum is part of the UK–Saudi Waste2Energy Initiative, funded under the Gulf Strategy Fund. The event is delivered in partnership with the National Centre for Waste Management (MWAN), KAUST, and UK universities and organisations, with support from the British Embassy Riyadh, FCDO, and Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

The forum will feature three focused sessions designed to translate knowledge into action:

Session I – Challenges and barriers in behaviour change (KSA Context)

Explore the social, cultural, institutional, and systemic factors influencing waste management behaviour in Saudi Arabia. This session will identify the key barriers to sustainable practices and outline strategies to overcome them in alignment with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.

Session II – International success stories in behaviour change

Hear from leading UK and international experts who have successfully delivered large-scale behaviour change initiatives in waste management. This session will highlight case studies from UCL, Mobius, and other organisations, showcasing practical approaches, measurable results, and lessons that can be adapted for the Saudi context.

Session III – Designing a pilot project for KSA

In this interactive session, a pilot project concept tailored to the Saudi context will be delivered. Drawing on the insights from Sessions I and II, the session will outline a roadmap for implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment to support future large-scale programmes.

Be part of shaping the future of sustainable waste management in Saudi Arabia through evidence-based behaviour change.

Register now to join policymakers, municipal leaders, researchers, and industry professionals for this unique UK–Saudi collaboration at KAUST.

This is a hybrid event, and participants can join either in person at KAUST or online.
