Speeding puts everyone at risk. As a shared community, we all play a role in keeping KAUST roads safe by driving responsibly and holding one another accountable.
Speed Monitoring
Digital speed signs across campus display and record vehicle speeds. HSE analyzes this data to monitor road safety. Recent data for two months shows:

These speeds are unacceptable. Maximum speeds recorded that are, for example, 122 km/h in a 40 km/h zone in areas with pedestrian activity, children, and cyclists are extremely dangerous and have no place on KAUST roads. They represent not just a breach of policy, but a disregard for human life.

Drive Smart
Always drive below the posted speed when:
- Approaching pedestrian crossings—especially at night.
- Near schools, cyclists, or animals.
- Entering or exiting parking areas.
Reminder: Speed limits are maximums, not targets. A slower speed protects lives. Let’s slow down and look out for one another.
