Safety Starts with Awareness

Every year on April 28, the world comes together to recognize the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a global initiative focused on promoting safe, healthy, and decent working environments. At KAUST, safety is not just a priority, it’s a shared responsibility and a reflection of our community’s values. Today, we take a moment to say thank you to everyone across KAUST who plays a part in keeping our campus safe and healthy.

  • Faculty, staff, and students: Thank you for integrating safety into your work, fostering a culture of care, responsibility, and awareness across campus.
  • Lab Safety Representatives: Your vigilance and commitment to creating a safe research environment have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for being the backbone of our lab safety culture.
  • Security personnel: Your constant presence and proactive support help us feel safe and secure every day. Thank you for being a reliable first line of protection.
  • Campus and Community staff: Your hard work behind the scenes creates a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for everyone who lives, works, and studies here. Your contribution is vital and greatly appreciated.
  • Service providers: Your daily efforts ensure our operations run smoothly and safely. Your dedication is a cornerstone of our shared success.
  • KAUST Community: Every action you take, every safety measure you follow, and every concern you raise strengthens the safety foundation at KAUST. Your commitment protects not only yourselves but everyone around you. We deeply appreciate everything you do.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s continue to stay engaged and proactive:

  • “Say What You See” – If you see something, say something.
  • Lead by example – Always wear the required PPE and follow protocols.
  • Stay aware – Make a habit of scanning your environment for hazards.

Remember: If you notice something unsafe, whether it’s a slippery floor, a fire hazard, or an unsafe work practice, don’t ignore it. ReportIt! Your quick action can prevent accidents and protect lives.
