Following an educational Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) overview seminar last year, the Research Translation Team is pleased to announce the LCA expert hands-on workshop. This workshop is particularly for individuals involved in translation projects with LCA needs and who are looking to explore LCA in detail. This is an in-house, hands-on event and we will provide pre-course notes and an overview of topics such as:
- The basics and the limitations of LCA
- Historical background and the evolution of ISO Standards governing LCA
- Introduction to LCA software and databases
- Analyzing electricity grid impacts
- Delving into various impact categories, including climate change
- Addressing uncertainties in LCA
- Understanding Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF)
During the workshop, you will be guided through:
- A short revision of the pre-course notes
- Introduction to openLCA
- Two industrial case studies on chemical processes
Software:
- The software used will be openLCA, on the basis that the methods and concepts are transferrable to other LCA software.
LCA expert:
- The training will be delivered by Dr. Tom Bradley, an industry LCA expert from Decerna Ltd.
