Following an educational Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) overview seminar last year, the Research Translation Team is pleased to announce the LCA expert hands-on workshop. This workshop is particularly for individuals involved in translation projects with LCA needs and who are looking to explore LCA in detail. This is an in-house, hands-on event and we will provide pre-course notes and an overview of topics such as:

  • The basics and the limitations of LCA
  • Historical background and the evolution of ISO Standards governing LCA
  • Introduction to LCA software and databases
  • Analyzing electricity grid impacts
  • Delving into various impact categories, including climate change
  • Addressing uncertainties in LCA
  • Understanding Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF)

During the workshop, you will be guided through:

  • A short revision of the pre-course notes
  • Introduction to openLCA
  • Two industrial case studies on chemical processes

Software:

  • The software used will be openLCA, on the basis that the methods and concepts are transferrable to other LCA software.

LCA expert:

  • The training will be delivered by Dr. Tom Bradley, an industry LCA expert from Decerna Ltd.

Seats are limited, so please contact Research Translation Engineer Dr. Lekhraj Amin (Lekhraj.Amin@kaust.edu.sa) before Sunday, February 11, if you would like to book your seat for the event.
