KAUST Facilities Management Launches Knowledge Transfer Program

Facilities Management (FM) unveiled a Knowledge Transfer Program in a strategic move to fortify its team’s expertise. This initiative reflects KAUST FM’s enduring dedication to excellence and its role in efficiently overseeing the university’s infrastructure.

The program was kickstarted on 3 October 2023 with an immersive session on the Fundamentals of Contract Technical Evaluation. Organized by Mr. Mohammad S. Mulla, Program Manager for Minor Projects at PDEC, the session delved into the intricacies of bidding best practices and vendor management, setting the stage for a series of future enriching seminars.

The primary objective of this session was to empower attendees with an in-depth understanding of contract technical evaluations, enabling informed decisions. The training underscored the critical importance of awarding the bid to the right contractor or vendor. It further emphasized the detailed review of Contract Technical Evaluations, ensuring that the bid process is aligned with KAUST’s stringent procurement standards.

Attendees explored multiple facets of the technical evaluation process, such as key focus areas in bid conferences; meticulous technical specifications; comprehensive evaluation criteria; methodical vendor selection; risk mitigation strategies; legal perspectives; and the significance of thorough documentation.

The Knowledge Transfer Program’s inaugural session received unanimous praise from the participants, laying a solid foundation for team members to hone their skills in contract technical evaluations.
