Attention, KAUST Community!
We are thrilled to announce the VerifyCaller feature, the latest enhancement in the KAUSTCentral application, brought to you by the Information Security Team and KAUST Smart. This new feature aims to bolster security measures and safeguard our community against fraudulent calls impersonating other organizations (e.g., banks, government agencies), which in the past have led to financial losses.
This functionality will be accessible to all validated KAUSTCentral users (with the latest version of the app) and offers the following key capabilities:
1. Verify the Reputation of the Caller Number: You can now verify the reputation of a number calling you against the “VerifyCaller Engine” managed by the KAUST InfoSec team. It classifies numbers as “Safe Number,” “Bad Number”, or “Not Identified” for those for which there is no information yet.
2. Reporting Suspicious Numbers: You now can report any suspicious numbers to our Information Security team directly. By doing so, you play a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment for everyone. All reported numbers undergo thorough investigation by the Information Security team before being added to the VerifyCaller engine.
3. Cyber Threat Awareness Channel: Stay informed about the latest cyber threats through a dedicated channel available within the application. Gain valuable insights to protect yourself from potential risks.
4. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Find answers to common queries related to information security, helping you navigate potential challenges and ensuring you make informed decisions.
We want to inform you that this is the first iteration, and we are looking to add an automatic verification capability and more soon. Together, we can proactively combat fraudulent activities and maintain a safe environment from call scammers who have been targeting our community members.
